Quarantine! A scary word)
But it also provided opportunities and its “magic kicks”. This is our first experience of participating in the international competition “Shopping center with a hotel block Grand Hotel Lviv and a conference hall at 2 Doroshenko Street in Lviv”. And we are grateful to the organizers of contest.com.ua for this opportunity and, of course, we are very grateful to our team of AV architects Oleksandr Vdovychenko Oleksandra Vdovychenko Andriy Petriv Oleksiy Faglov Vitaliy Gabuda, which was formed on the eve of quarantine.
We are very proud, no matter how pretentious it may sound, of our solution to all the tasks of the competition. There were arguments, morning discussions on Zoom, we changed our decisions the night before, because we lived with this project for almost a month, fell asleep and woke up discussing ideas, details, and decisions. In fact, we ended up with a whole room more than was required by the terms of the competition, and our architect Oleksandra Vdovychenko is simply infinitely in love with the tram stop that we designed as part of the complex. It was a lot of fun to re-read the contest conditions on the last night and find out that we had collected more material for a whole tablet than was allowed by the contest conditions. Perhaps this project has united us as a team, and has become our joint creative start. We have already had an active discussion of the nominated projects, our views are quite different and lively, while we have seen only our project and the projects of the winners.
This project allowed us to build the work of our “stay home” team, because we follow all the quarantine rules, to start working with the team, while getting to know each other.
We didn't win the competition, but this experience was a good learning experience and motivation for us. We realize that our project is on the level, and we understand how difficult it was for the jury to choose only 6 projects out of 71. We are looking forward to receiving full information on all the projects, but for now we are sharing our team project.
